There are no strangers at St. Luke, only friends we have yet to meet!
This week in our parish & diocese...
During Lent Catholics are asked to practice self-denial especially through the works of fasting, abstaining from meat, as well as giving charity to the needy.
According to the website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the norms for fasting and abstinence for Roman Catholics are as follows:
FASTING:: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days for fasting and abstinence. Fasting is binding for those who are 18 years through 59 years old. Fasting consists of one full meal and two smaller meals that is not equal to a full meal.
ABSTINENCE: Fridays during Lent are days of Abstinence from meat. Abstinence from meat are binding for those who are 14 years old and older.
